Day 1–2: Find Temporary Accommodation
Before you can do anything else, you need an address. Book temporary accommodation (hostel, Airbnb, or short-term rental) for your first 2–3 weeks while you search for permanent housing.
Tip: Choose accommodation near public transport to make your appointments easier. Frankfurt’s U-Bahn, S-Bahn, and trams are excellent.

Day 2–3: Book Your Anmeldung Appointment
The Anmeldung (address registration) is your top priority. You must complete it within 14 days of moving into your accommodation.
How to book in Frankfurt:
- Visit the official Frankfurt city website.(Terminservice).
- Click on “ONLINE-TERMINVEREINBARUNG”.
- Under “Meldeangelegenheiten” click on “Anmeldung einer Wohnung” (registration of residence).
- Book an appointment – new slots are often released at 7:00 AM daily.
- If no slots are available, check multiple times a day – cancellations happen.

Day 3–5: Get Your Wohnungsgeberbestätigung
You cannot complete the Anmeldung without this document. The Wohnungsgeberbestätigung is a confirmation of move-in signed by your landlord.
What it must include:
- Full name and address of the landlord/property owner.
- Full name and new address of the tenant (you).
- The exact date you moved in (Einzugstag).
- The landlord’s signature.
Tip: Request this document immediately when you move in. Some landlords provide it on the day you collect the keys. Follow up politely if they delay.

Day 5–7: Complete Your Anmeldung Appointment
Attend your appointment at the Bürgeramt with the following documents:
- Valid passport (with Chancenkarte visa sticker).
- Completed registration form.
- Wohnungsgeberbestätigung.
At the appointment:
- The officer will review your documents.
- You will confirm your personal details.
- You will receive your Meldebescheinigung (registration certificate) on the spot.
Important: Keep the Meldebescheinigung safe. You will need copies for opening a bank account, applying for health insurance, and validating your Chancenkarte.
